Kellan Christopher Cragg is an 18-year-old Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter, producer, and visual artist redefining what it means to be fully self-contained. As a rare “hundred percenter,” he writes, performs, produces, and visually directs every element of his work—crafting each song and visual piece entirely on his own terms.

Entirely self-taught, Kellan plays piano, guitar, bass, and ukulele by ear, and has mastered production in Logic—skills he began developing at just 10 years old. What began as homemade compositions soon evolved into a cinematic, emotionally immersive sound that blends indie, alt, rock, and soul in a way that’s unmistakably his.

His debut album, WRONG BALLOON—written, produced, and recorded in under a month at age 17—is an intimate, expansive body of work that’s already receiving critical recognition-already making waves internationally. In its June/July 2025 issue, ROLLING STONE UK named Kellan one of The Mix – Recommends: Latest Ones to Watch, writing:

“Much of WRONG BALLOON can be considered singer-songwriter fare, but there’s a lot more going on besides that… Cragg has as much in common with the smooth R&B of Steve Lacy as he does with the lo-fi of Alex G. We reckon his music could get even weirder and more unique from here.”

 

Clash Music described it as the work of a “true all-rounder,” drawing comparisons to early Alex G and Sufjan Stevens. Kellan calls it:

The single "KISMET" hit #1 on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Indie and #5 Spotify’s Fresh Finds overall, and earned a high-profile placement on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Favorites for April on Instagram (April 2025). "I REMEMBER WHEN I WOKE UP" debuted at #10 on LOREM and landed on Apple Music’s New In Alternative.

 

Featured on BBC Radio 6’s New Music Fix (aired March  25, 2025) where the host praised "I REMEMBER WHEN I WOKE UP", saying they were “completely dazzled by this track before I discovered Kellan Christopher Cragg was only 18 years old…”

Known for his introspective lyrics and emotionally detailed storytelling, Kellan’s music channels both solitude and connection. His sound reflects the full spectrum of human emotion—often built from instinct, moments of quiet observation, and what he calls “accidental vulnerability.”
